Gilani draws Red Cross, Amnesty attention towards detainees’ plight

Srinagar, January 31, 2013 (PPI-OT): In occupied Kashmir, veteran Kashmiri Hurriyet leader, Syed Ali Gilani has urged International Red Cross and Amnesty international to take serious note of pathetic conditions of political detainees and impress upon India to shun its callous attitude towards them and provide them with basic necessities as per jail manual.

Syed Ali Gilani commenting on the High Court Bar Association’s report on the plight of political prisoners in Jammu jails praised the HCBA role in the ongoing liberation movement.

Syed Ali Gilani said that the lawyers had disclosed the pathetic condition of political prisoners in Jammu jails with sense and responsibility.

According to his spokesman, Syed Ali Gilani in a statement said that India and its authorities in occupied Kashmir were subjecting the political prisoners to worst kind of atrocities and torture in jails.

Terming the details revealed by the Bar Association horrific he said that report was an eye-opener for those “who believe India is a great democracy.”

Haling the members of Bar Association, Syed Ali Gilani said that the Bar had always provided free legal advice and assistance to the detainees.
