Srinagar, September 02, 2013 (PPI-OT): In occupied Kashmir, the veteran Kashmiri Hurriyet leader, Syed Ali Gilani has urged people to stage protest after Friday prayers and observe shutdown on Saturday against Germany’s decision to go ahead with concert in Srinagar.
This was announced by the veteran leader at a press conference at in Srinagar, today. Syed Ali Gilani said that they had no objection to someone’s visit to Kashmir, but holding such concert would damage the disputed status of the Kashmir dispute. In 1984, the Kashmiris had opposed cricket match between India and West Indies in the same ground, he added.
The veteran leader said that blatant violation of human rights by India in the territory consolidated their stand that New Delhi had forcibly occupied the territory and holding of such a show would damage their cause, besides overshadowing these violations, he argued.
Meanwhile, senior APHC leader and Chairman of Jammu and Kashmir Freedom Party, Shabbir Ahmad Shah in a statement congratulated Syed Ali Gilani on assuming the charge of Tehreek-e-Hurriyet as Chairman for the third consecutive time.
