German Government Announces 7.6 million US$ Aid for Flood Relief

Islamabad: German Government has announced aid of US$ 7.6 million for flood relief activities in the areas affected in recent floods in Pakistan. German Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development has allocated US$ 6.25 million whereas US$ 1.36 million will be provided by the German Foreign Office, says a press release received here today from Berlin, Germany.

Germany provided considerable support, both from the German government and through German private donations in response to last year’s unprecedented floods.

Meanwhile a number of German humanitarian organizations which were actively engaged in relief activities in the northern part of Pakistan after the devastating floods of 2010, have moved their operations to southern districts of Sindh, which have suffered as a result of recent floods.

Pakistan Embassy in Berlin has geared up its efforts to mobilize Pakistani community living in Germany and German relief organizations to extend assistance to the flood victims in Pakistan.

The Embassy is in regular contact with leading German relief organizations to highlight the plight of the flood victims and Government of Pakistan’s efforts for flood relief activities as well requesting their support for relief and rehabilitation operations.
