Srinagar, March 04, 2013 (PPI-OT): The Chairman of New Delhi-based Kashmir Committee, senior Supreme Court lawyer and former Indian Law Minister, Ram Jethmalani, has blamed the Indian government for “acting in an autocratic way” in Muhammad Afzal Guru’s execution.
Ram Jethmalani in an interview with a Srinagar-based news agency said that he was “not only deeply hurt but ashamed as well on the way” the Indian leadership “tarnished the democratic set-up of the country.”
“Where is it written that family members can’t meet a person before his execution? Merely on the pretext of law and order you are hurting the sentiments of Kashmiri people more by not handing over his body to his family,” he said, adding that “it is sorry to say but the reality is that Gandhi’s India has turned into Hitler’s Germany.”
“I sincerely regret that he was not allowed even to meet his little son before his execution which speaks volumes,” he said.
Jethmalani advised the Indian government to hand over the body of Afzal Guru to his family without any further delay.
