Karachi, May 15, 2014 (PPI-OT): The French Counselor assured that the France Government will provide grant of 20 scholarships for deserving and needy students belonging to less developed districts of Sindh in the faculties of Engineering and Business Administration.
This was decided in a meeting of Mrs. Martine Herlem-Hamidi, Cultural and Cooperation Counselor of French Embassy, Islamabad held with the Senior Minister for Education and Literacy, Mr. Nisar Ahmad Khuhro in his office on Thursday.
This meeting was a follow up of a meeting held on 21st April, 2014 between Mr. Philippe Thiebaud, Ambassador of France in Pakistan with Senior Minister for Education and Literacy regarding grant of scholarships to the deserving / poor students of Sindh Province.
Under this scholarship program the needy / deserving students of the province of Sindh who get admission in prestigious and reputed institutions of Pakistan would be eligible to apply. Admission fees and other expenses during the course of study will be borne by France Government.
The France Counselor further assured that the number of scholarships would be increased in coming years. The Secretary, Education and Literacy Department Dr. Fazalullah Pechuho alongwith other officers of the Department attended the meeting. The Secretary, (Endowment) Mr. Hanif Muhammad Merchawala was nominated as a focal person of this programme.
