Lahore, August 04, 2016 (PPI-OT):Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif presided over a high level meeting here today which decided to recruit five thousand more personnel for Special Protection Unit for the projects being set up with the cooperation of China, Chinese national and other foreigners. The meeting also gave approval to a crash programme for the training of private security guards.
The Chief Minister while addressing the meeting said that maximum security will be provided for the projects being set up with the cooperation of China and Chinese national working on these projects and Special Protection Unit has been set up for which five thousand more personnel will be deputed.
Shahbaz Sharif said that foolproof security of Chinese working on various projects in Punjab will be ensured and no compromise will be made in this regard. He directed that recruitment process of five thousand more personnel for Special Protection Unit should immediately be started. He further directed that all necessary measures should be taken for the security of Chinese national working on CPEC and other projects.
The Chief Minister said that special training on modern lines is being given to officials of Special Protection Unit. He said that ex-Army officers will give training to security guards in TEVTA institutions. The guards completing training will also attend refresher courses and the training of first batch of security guards will start from the end of current month, he added. Shahbaz Sharif said that the scope of the training programme will be expanded in phases to existing guards.
The Chief Minister directed that training programme of security guards should be implemented in an organized and professional manner and third party certification mechanism of training programme also be evolved. He directed Cabinet Committee on Law and Order to pay regular visit to Chinese projects to review security arrangements. Shahbaz Sharif appreciated Chairman TEVTA for evolving training programme for security guards.
The meeting also reviewed the training programme of security guards for the projects being set up with the cooperation of China as well as Chinese national. Special Assistant Rana Maqbool Ahmed, Member Provincial Assembly Jehangir Khanzada, Chief Secretary, Inspector General Police, Secretary Law, Secretary Home, Chairman TEVTA and senior police officials were present on the occasion.
