Islamabad, January 08, 2013 (PPI-OT): Met Office informed that current foggy and cold weather conditions prevailing in the plain areas of the Punjab are likely to continue during the current week. Due to dense and prolong fog, the day temperatures have fallen 10 to 12°C from the normal temperatures. The normal day temperature in the plain areas of Punjab is 22°C and it has dropped to 10°C. Such lowest temperatures have been observed in the plain areas of Punjab after 50 years.
Cold air coming from Europe through Iran and Afghanistan is penetrating in Pakistan continuously. Cold air, high humidity and delay in winter rainfall, are the reasons of prevailing dense and prolong fog.
Due to expected rain over upper parts of the country during the weekend, the prevailing foggy and cold weather conditions are likely to subside.
