Islamabad: Federal Minister for Production, Ch. Anwar Ali Cheema, while chairing a meeting of the Board of Directors of Pakistan Industrial Development Corporation (PIDC), has stated that the Ministry of Production is all set to promote and develop the industrial sector of the country along with putting special focus on uplifting the neglected areas.
As per clearance of the Development Working Party (DWP) of PIDC and the recommendations of the Board’s Finance Committee, the Board approved the following sector Development Schemes:
1- Sargodha Industrial Park
2- Rural Craft Development Project of AHAN, Lahore
3- Establishment of Common Facility Training and Manufacturing Centre of Furniture Pakistan at Gujrat
4- Establishment of Centre of Excellence for Wooden Arts at Sargodha
5- Establishment of Gems and Jewellery training and manufacturing Centre of PGJDC at Sargodha
The Minister hoped that the establishment of these centres shall not only play an important role in the skills development of the poor people of these areas but will also prove instrumental in boosting the industrial activities and making their productivity competitive. Hence, the Minister added, these schemes will contribute in the GDP of the country.
Further, the Minister directed the officials of the Ministry and the management of PIDC to make their best efforts in developing the respective sectors to achieve ultimate goal of national economic development of the country.
“Time is of the essence and complete transparency needs to be maintained in achieving the desired goals”, the Minister added.
Along with the Minister, Ms. Mehreen Razzaq Bhutto, Parliamentary Secretary on Production and the Secretary Production, Mr. Gul Muhammad Rind also attended the meeting.
