Srinagar, February 08, 2014 (PPI-OT): In occupied Kashmir, Indian police arrested the Chairman of Jammu and Kashmir Democratic Political Movement (DPM), Firdous Ahmad Shah and spokesman, Yar Muhammad Khan, and conducting raids on the residences of other party leaders including Muhammad Shafi Reshi, Khawaja Firdous, Muhammad Imran and Feroz Sarfaraz. Firdous Ahmad Shah was lodged at Kothi Bagh Police Station to prevent him from participating in different programmes in connection with the martyrdom anniversaries of prominent liberation leaders, Muhammad Maqbool Butt and Muhammad Afzal Guru.
The DPM General Secretary, Muhammad Shafi Reshi, in a statement issued in Srinagar condemned the arrest of party Chairman and other Hurriyet leaders and activists. He said that the arrests spree showed frustration of the puppet authorities.
It is to mention here that the authorities have launched arrest of people including Hurriyet leaders and activists on a massive level.
Muhammad Maqbool Butt was hanged in New Delhi’s Tihar Jail on February 11, 1984, while Muhammad Afzal Guru was sent to gallows in the same jail on February 9, last year. Both the leaders remain buried in the premises of the jail.
