Firdous arrested during March towards UN office in Srinagar

Srinagar, September 02, 2013 (PPI-OT): In occupied Kashmir, the authorities have arrested the Chairman of Democratic Political Movement, Firdous Ahmad Shah along with several party activists during their march towards UN office in Srinagar.

Several DPM activists were injured in police action when they took out a procession from party office at Aabiguzurga and tried to proceed towards UN office at Sonawari in Srinagar. Firdous Ahmad Shah and Muhammad Shafi Reshi were leading the march before the police action.

The party General Secretary, Muhammad Shafi Reshi on the occasion told reporters that the purpose of the march was to remind the UN of its obligations on Kashmir.

Muhammad Shafi Reshi denounced the police highhandedness and arrests. He demanded of the United Nations and human rights organizations to take cognizance of blatant human rights violations by Indian police and army in the territory.
