Fehmida Mirza takes notice of gross irregularities, committed in tendering, execution of ongoing Left Bank Outflow Drainage project in Badin

Badin, January 07, 2013 (PPI-OT): The Speaker National Assembly, Dr. Fehmida Mirza has taken notice of the gross irregularities, committed in the tendering and execution of the ongoing Left Bank Outflow Drainage project in Badin. She ordered an inquiry into the scandal and asked the Chief Minister Sindh Syed Qaim Ali Shah to suspend the Project Director, Sardar Shah.

Dr. Mirza, who is currently touring her constituency, was informed by the locals about the negligence in this important project. They alleged that the Project Director Sardar Shah was personally involved in the poor and sub-standard work quality and the massive corruption in this project.

It was also brought to her notice that the project had been hastily tendered without following the legal formalities, as to accommodate favorite contractor. On receiving these reports, the Speaker ordered an immediate inquiry and asked the Chief Minster to take the Project Director to task. She has also vowed to bring it to the notice of President Asif Zardari.

The “Restoration of LBOD and Kotri Drainage Network System, including the activation of Old Dhoras” is vital for the worst flood-hit Badin District as the defects in the project has already played havoc to the existing physical and agricultural infrastructure in the area.
