Islamabad, March 05, 2014 (PPI-OT): The President FPCCI Mr. Zakaria Usman who is on a visit to Dubai to attend the World CEO Investment Conference at Dubai on Expo 2020 said that FPCCI would setup a office at Dubai for a proper coordination for participation in Expo 2020 Dubai which is going to be the world largest event after Olympics and FIFA.
Expo 2020 Dubai is an opportunity which needs to be exploited by intensive aggressive planning, marketing and strategies to make the maximum benefits from this event particularly in terms of projection of Pakistan in the field of exports, manufacturing capacity, investment opportunities, new business ideas, tourism, heritage, culture, service sector etc, Mr Zakaria further added.
The President FPCCI, accompanied by Mr. Shaukat Ahmed, Sr. Vice President and Mr. S. M. Naseer, Mr. Mazhar Ali Nasir and Mr. Khurram Sayeed Vice Presidents of FPCCI said that that Dubai Expo 2020 offers immense business opportunities to all countries particularly with reference to construction sector, hotel industry, transport sector, energy sector, telecommunication. He urged that Pakistan should gear up to have maximum share in the opportunities pouring in Dubai particularly in development of infrastructure and allied facilities which is approximately estimated to $ 23 billion.
Mr. Zakaria said about 25 million foreign visitors are expected to visit Expo 2020 due to which the population of Dubai during six month of expo will increase approximately three times resultantly the requirement of hotels/apartments will be doubled while the existing capacity is insufficient and more hotels/apartments, new restaurants, shopping malls, thematic parks, roads, overhead bridges etc will be constructed. Therefore immediate demands are likely to in the sector of construction material including cement, tiles, sanitary wares, wooden material, building material, furniture, electrical goods, carpets and skilled manpower etc.
He further informed that for this mega project about 273,000 jobs will be created in hotels, constructions, machine operators, engineering, designing and architecture, transport, marketing and other sectors in Dubai which Pakistan can easily provide.
He said that FPCCI Office in Dubai will facilitate Pakistani entrepreneurs during these 7 years to cater all these opportunities to be emerged in the backdrop Expo 2020 in different sectors like construction material including cement, tiles, sanitary wares, wooden material building material, furniture, electrical goods, carpets, transport and hotel industry.
The President further said that FPCCI is keen to tap all the opportunities to the maximum limit for the increase in the export of Pakistan to Dubai during these 7 years to expo 2020 and for this purpose will establish. FPCCI desk/office in Dubai with the help of TDAP and other government functionaries will encourage and guide Pakistani exporters.
This office will also have a close liaison with the Embassy of Pakistan Abu-Dhabi, Consulate General in Dubai, TDAP Ministry of Commerce and Foreign Affairs. The government should devise the action plan with the consultation of FPCCI because well in advance, he urged. The President will also meet Mr. Asif Durrani, Ambassador of Pakistan in UAE to discuss FPCCI’s plan to tap the opportunities in UAE with reference to Dubai Expo 2020.
