Karachi, September 02, 2015 (PPI-OT): Pakistan has long-standing economic and trade relations with Norway however, there is great scope of further cooperation between Pakistan and Norway in trade, education, health and social sectors. This was stated by Abdul Rahim Janoo, Acting President FPCCI in a meeting with Ms. Riffat Masud, Ambassador designated to Norway who visited Federation House to meet the office bearers of FPCCI.
The meeting was also attended by Shahnawaz Ishtiaq, Vice President FPCCI, Nasiruddin Sheikh, senior businessmen Abdul Sami Khan and Waheed Shah, Naheed Masood and Maher Alam Khan, Acting Secretary General of FPCCI. Abdul Rahim Janoo further said that Norway is important diplomatic good friend of Pakistan and the perception of Pakistan in Norway is better and positive as compared to European and other countries.
He said that Norway is potential market for Pakistani products and sincere and concrete efforts are required for the promotion of bilateral trade and economic relations. He said that a large number of Pakistanis are doing good business in Norway. He emphasized on enhancing the people to people contact through frequent exchange of trade delegations and holding exhibition.
He further said that FPCCI is planning to organize a single country exhibition in Oslo in the month of August, 2016 to be coupled with the trade delegation to Norway. Rahim Janoo further stated FPCCI is seeking cooperation from the Pakistan Embassy in Norway for the establishment of Joint Business Council between Pakistan and Norway for the facilitation of business community of both the countries.
He also suggested that PIA should also increase its frequency of flight to Norway. Reffat Masud, Ambassador designated to Norway appreciated the suggestions of Acting President FPCCI for organizing Pakistan’s single country exhibition in August, 2016 along with visit of trade delegation and assured full support and cooperation at all level.
She said that image building of Pakistan abroad is a major task which would be successfully met by the frequent exchange of delegations. She also assured that the Pakistani mission may also interact with the prominent Universities of Norway who offer scholarship to foreign students so that Pakistani students could make use of these scholarships.
