Islamabad: Dr. Muhammad Farooq Sattar, Federal Minister for Overseas Pakistanis chaired “Inter-ministerial meeting on Camel Jockeys” today i.e. 14.02.2012 in his office. Mr. Maula Bakhsh Chandio, Federal Minister for Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs and a representative from Ministry of Interior on behalf of Mr. A. Rehman Malik, Federal Minister for Interior were also present along with Federal Secretary and Chief (PPU), Ministry of Overseas Pakistanis.
It was a comprehensive meeting discussing and resolving a serious issue of the innocent children being used as Camel Jockeys in Arab countries. It was decided to formulate a policy which would facilitate Pakistani officials to stop illegal smuggling and human trafficking including these innocent children.
The Federal Minister directed his officials to propose such policy in consultation with Ministry of Interior and forward it to Ministry of Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs for legal opinion and further action.
It was also decided all that the stakeholders have no objection to keep compensation money, given by UAE Government, with Overseas Pakistanis Foundation (OPF) for future use. But it was also suggested that the provincial governments and child protection bureaus of respective provinces should be consulted first.
The Federal Minister and other members appreciated this effort by all members and the support and cooperation of related departments.
