Lahore, January 19, 2013 (PPI-OT): The Federal Board of Revenue has finalized all arrangements to introduce Web-Based One Custom System (WeBoc) in Lahore from February 01, 2013.
This was stated by the Collector Customs (Appraisement) Zeba Hye while addressing the LCCI members at a program “Walkthrough Weboc” jointly organized by the Collectorate of Customs and the Lahore Chamber of commerce and Industry on Saturday.
LCCI former Vice President Aftab Ahmad Vohra, Collector Customs (Preventive) Fazal Yazdani Khan, Additional Collector (HQ) Dr. Muhammad Adnan Akram, Chief Manager PRAL Inam-ul-Wahid and Yaseen Murtaza also spoke on the occasion.
Zeba Hye said that since the WeBoc system is operational and working well in Karachi for the last one year therefore, a decision has been taken to introduce it in Lahore as well. She said that the Collectorate of Customs is ready to impart practical training to the LCCI members in due course while is planning appoint a focal person at the Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry to give awareness on the new system that is fully automated.
She said that the WeBoc system would not only reduce drastically the time for clearance of goods but would also work in accordance with latest SROs and international price mechanism. “The companies having good track record would be provided an opportunity to use Green Channel Facility.”
LCCI former Vice President Aftab Ahmad Vohra, while appreciating the FBR Chairman for bringing in the technologically advanced systems for the benefit of business community, said that for achieving better results and give more awareness to the businessmen, the system should be put in place in the month of July instead of February this year.
Elaborating the point, Aftab Vohra said that he was advocating a few months delay because the LCCI members have some reservations about registration with the new system.
Meanwhile, the LCCI President Farooq Iftikhar has said that the initiative taken by the Federal Board of Revenue to educate LCCI members while holding subject-specific seminars would further strengthen its liaison with the business community and help government get more revenue.
