Feasibility study of National Safari Park Salt Range Kallar Kahar completed

Lahore, June 21, 2016 (PPI-OT):Feasibility study of National Safari Park Salt Range Kallar Kahar has been completed. This project of public entertainment will be established over one thousand acres of land with a cost of 4.3 billion rupees. Main objective of the project is to promote Eco-Tourism in the country and provide best recreational facilities of international standard to the people of Pakistan especially Punjab. All facilities being provided in National Safari Park would be of International standard. After final approval, work will be started from next financial year.

These views were expressed during a briefing regarding feasibility study of National Safari Park wherein Secretary Forests, Wildlife and Fisheries Capt. ® Jehanzeb Khan, Director General Wildlife and Parks Punjab Khalid Ayaz Khan, Additional Secretary Technical Shahid Rasheed Awan, Deputy Director Wildlife Planning Mian Hafeez Ahmed and representatives of a consultant firm Shelter Associates were present.

It was told during the briefing that in National Safari Park, equal entertainment opportunities will be provided for children, young and old in the light of their interests and awareness and motivation among public will be made possible about the importance and necessity of the wildlife. Visitors will feel pleasure and decent feelings there. National Safari Park will be the foremost and prominent among the parks of the country established so far.

A stopover will be established near Kallar Kahar Motorway where travellers and other people of different areas will enjoy the best and sustainable recreational facilities. Different safaris will also be established in National Safari where local animal species like Uriyal and Chinkara Deer etc. and safaris of exotic species like African, Arabian Orex, Giraffes, and Zebra safaris would also be established.

Secretary Forests, Wildlife and Fisheries Capt. (R) Jehanzeb Khan, while addressing the participants of the meeting, said that Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif showed his keen interest in the establishment of National Safari Park and was desirous to provide maximum recreational opportunities to the general public.

Director General Wildlife and Parks Punjab, Khalid Ayaz Khan emphasized upon the consultant firm to pay special attention to the Children Amusement Park and not to ignore any aspect of their interest and attention. He further told that in March 2016, a briefing was given to Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif at Lal Suhanra Park Bahawalpur about the conservation and protection of wildlife in the province wherein he was also briefed about National Safari Park Salt Range.

In the briefing, high ranking officers directed the consultant firm to include more recreational facilities for the public in the feasibility study and make it fool proof so that after a detailed briefing to Chief Minister about the project, approval could be obtained and work be started.
