Srinagar, April 15, 2016 (PPI-OT):In occupied Kashmir, the family of the minor girl who was molested by an Indian soldier in Handwara town has said that father of victims has been abducted. Indian army personnel sexually assaulted a minor girl from Handwara on April 12. Four persons were killed due to the firing of Indian Army personnel on protests against the molestation. The family of the victim girl approached the Jammu and Kashmir Coalition of Civil Society (JKCCS) for legal counsel and other support.
“The other night, around 1:00am, the father of the victim was called to the Handwara police station. He was accompanied by his brother. Since then his whereabouts are not known. The family has been denied access to both the minor girl and her father”, the family members of the victim girl told the JKCCS.
The family of the girl stated that she has been kept in police custody from 12 April. The detention of the minor girl and her father appears to be an attempt to pressurize the family to withdraw case against the Indian Army personnel, the family members maintained. The family of the victim has demanded immediate release of the minor girl and her father and has sought legal assistance.
