Islamabad, October 15, 2014 (PPI-OT): Federal Minister for Ministry of National Food Security and Research Sikandar Hayat Khan Bosan has stated that the export of Mangoes in 2014 has been around 90505 tons while exportation will still continue for next couple of days. Last year exportation of mangoes has ceased at 61520 tons so the current figures are speaking loudly, the endeavours of Ministry of National Food Security. In this exportation, 4131 tons mangoes are merely exported to European Union.
Sikandar Bosan said that in March 2014, European Union imposed ban on India to export mangoes to E.U. for the reason of 386 interceptions of “Fruit fly”, while for the same period 236 interceptions of fruit fly had been noticed on Pakistani mangoes by E.U. and showing the serious concerns, E.U. had shown yellow card to Pakistan.
My teams look instant action and with consultation of all stake holders an action plan was furnished, Sikandar Bosan said” we even stopped the export of mangoes for one week and ensured that no single consignment should be infected. Resultantly by the implementation of said plan Pakistan not only broken the last year export record of mangoes but also significantly reduce the number of interception of fruit fly from 236 to only two.
Federal Minister has said that this time no single interception is noticed and Pakistan may come at number one exporter of mangoes from number four in the world.
Federal Minister has said that 1 kg packet of mangoes has got 4.5 pound price in U.K. while it was priced 2.5 pound per kg earlier. Federal Minister Sikandar Bosan has said that we have exported 1045777 million tons fruit and vegetables other than mangoes to all over the world in 2014.
