Karachi, January 16, 2013 (PPI-OT): KMC Administrator Muhammad Hussain Syed said Karachi holds much importance in the region and the city had been considered backbone of national economy. Basic infrastructure in Karachi was going through development process and the youth were giving training opportunities in vocational and technical sectors to enable them to avail better job opportunities.
All these measures were aimed at improving the image of Karachi and to pave way for rapid progress and development. He expressed these views while talking to a delegation of European Union represented by Mr. Jose Luis, Ms. Sarah Ladbury and others.
The European Union delegation which called on Administrator Karachi in his office said they were impressed by the rapid development in a very short period in Karachi which would help raising the standard of life of common men besides providing new opportunities for further progress and development. Administrator Karachi Muhammad Hussain Syed said the development process was going on in Karachi despite of unfavorable conditions.
He said promotion of educational and sports activities were essential for elimination of terrorism. He said unfortunately the investors and traders were relocating their industries to other cities due to improper law and order conditions in the city and the citizens of Karachi were depriving the job opportunities.
He also informed the delegation about the development projects presently underway in Karachi. He said that the roads and highways were widened and made better to improve traffic flow besides the construction of flyovers and underpasses on major corridors of city. The Circular Railway Project will soon be revived and other means of transport will be provided to bring further improvement in the overall transport system of Karachi.
