Karachi, June 03, 2013 (PPI-OT): Director General (Operations) Employees Old Age Benefits Institution (EOBI) Syed Iqbal Haider Zaidi has said that the employers should come forward to support us for the better welfare of labor community regarding their legal and moral obligations.
He expressed these views during the visit of SITE Association of Trade and Industry here on Monday.He informed the office bearers of the association that EOBI is playing vital role to provide pension-related benefits to people of worker class and their survivors in the shape of old age pension, survivors’ pension, invalidity pension and old age grants.
Mr. Zaidi further said that there are 5.5 million industries and private sector workers who are registered under Employees Old Age Benefits Scheme and they are getting various types of pensions after their retirements.“EOBI has made arrangements to provide the pensions to registered workers through branches of National Bank of Pakistan (NBP), mobile banking and Easypaisa”, Director General said.
He appealed the employers and business community to co-operate with EOBI to fulfill this noble cause and with this, support the productivity of workers would also be improved. Earlier, Chairman SITE Association Arshad Vohra and other office bearers had welcomed the D.G (Ops) EOBI and discussed the issues related to registration of workers, facilitation system, contributions and pensions.
D.G EOBI has offered the SITE Association to conduct training workshops on online facilitation system, so the problems facing by employees would be resolved.
