Karachi, October 28, 2014 (PPI-OT): Ombudsman Sindh Asad Ashraf Malik has helped an applicant to get his retirement dues from DMC South, Karachi. According to details Rehmat Masih a low paid employee of DMC South filed a complaint to the Ombudsman Sindh that he applied for retirement from service to the competent authority but action on his application was being delayed for no valid reason. Therefore he requested to Ombudsman Sindh Asad Ashraf Malik to help him to get his dues Rs.732,135/- and pay his pension and other legitimate dues.
On receiving complaint the case was examined thoroughly at Ombudsman Secretariat and the matter was taken up with the Agency for response. The concerned Agency informed Ombudsman secretariat that Rehmat Masih stood retired from service with effect 1-9-2012 but delay in the settlement of his retirement dues was due to shortage of funds.
Ombudsman Sindh directed the DMC South to finalize the pension case positively by 30-09-2014, as holding of pension was against the rules as held by the Superior Courts and violation would invite severe action against the defaulting agency.
Following the Ombudsman’s directives the Agency informed the Ombudsman Secretariat that on 29-9-2014 the complainant was paid Rs.169226/- on account of Provident Fund while cheque of Rs.562909/- on account of pension/ commutation was ready for delivery to the complainant.
