Elections no alternative to UN resolutions: JKPM

Jammu, November 25, 2013 (PPI-OT): In occupied Kashmir, the Jammu and Kashmir Peoples Movement (JKPM), a constituent of the All Parties Hurriyet Conference (APHC), has said that farcical elections in the territory are not an alternative to the UN resolutions on Kashmir. The JKPM Senior Vice Chairman, Mir Shahid Saleem, addressing a function held in Jammu to pay tributes to the martyrs of Karbala said that the people of occupied Kashmir were being subjected to the worst kind of oppression and suppression by the occupation authorities.

He said that the election drama enacted in Kashmir during the past over six decades had no bearing on the disputed nature of Jammu and Kashmir and it was also mentioned in the UN resolutions. He said that the best tribute to the martyrs of Karbala was to continue fight against the forces of oppression and suppression that had snatched the Kashmiris’ alienable right to self-determination.

Maulana Ameer Muhammad Shamsi, Mufti Riyaz Ahmed, Moulvi Maqsood Ahmed, Moulvi Abdul Aziz, Ghulam Nabi Butt, Abdul Sattar and Shafiq Ahmed also spoke on the occasion.
