Eight meeting of Pakistan-Russia Consultative Group on Strategic Stability held in Islamabad

Islamabad, April 25, 2013 (PPI-OT): The 8th meeting of the Pakistan-Russia Consultative Group on Strategic Stability was held in Islamabad on 25 April 2013. The Pakistan side was headed by Mr. Aizaz Ahmad Chaudhry, Additional Foreign Secretary of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan. Mr. Sergey A. Ryabkov, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation, led the Russian delegation.

The talks were held in a cordial and friendly atmosphere. The two sides reviewed developments in the area of international arms control, disarmament and WMD non-proliferation. Both sides also discussed issues related to the maintenance of regional and strategic stability as well as relevant areas of cooperation in the bilateral domain and in the multilateral fora.

The two sides found the talks useful. They reaffirmed their commitment to strengthen this consultation mechanism through regular exchanges which would contribute towards further promotion of a comprehensive partnership between Pakistan and Russia.

Both sides agreed to convene the next meeting of the Consultative Group in Moscow at mutually convenient dates.
