Islamabad, March 11, 2014 (PPI-OT): Minister of State for Education and Interior Eng. Muhammad Baligh-ur Rehman while addressing the concluding session of national conference on Islamic Education in Pakistan said that he was pleased to know that Islamic International University Islamabad organised a two day conference on the important topic of religious education in Pakistan.
In the prevailing environment this has become even more important to educate masses on the importance of religious education, he said. He further said that there were already many misconceptions against madrasas while some misconceptions were created by certain quarters. There was need to now tell the world that Muslims are peace loving, educated and socialised people. He called upon the Ulmas to shoulder heavy responsibility of taking forward the legacy of the Holy Prophet.
The Minister stressed the need for basic education along with the religious one because a successful education system was that which not only guides in the religious affairs but also helps to get dignified jobs. It is necessary for a Muslim that he should improve his knowledge every passing day, he added.
While talking about the curricula, he said that that syllabus should be modernized in line with Islamic Ideology and national needs. In the end Minister said that the present government was trying to lessen the dropout rate from the schools which was alarming at this stage.
