Karachi, November 12, 2018 (PPI-OT): The Governor of Sindh Imran Ismail has said that health sector is being focused to bring due reforms in order to provide the basic health facilities to the people. A 14-member delegation comprising of senior representatives of local and multinational pharmaceutical companies called on Governor Sindh at Governor’s House today. Federal Minister for Narcotics Control Ali Muhammad Khan Mehar and Governor Sindh jointly chaired the meeting. The delegation was led by Chairman, Pakistan Pharmaceutical Manufacturer Association Zahid Saeed.
Governor Sindh highlighted the need of smooth availability of medicines to all segments of society at affordable rates. “The Federal Government is committed to facilitate Pharmaceutical industry in order to ensure availability of medicines to the people. Introduction of Health Card facility for the underprivileged people of the country is the best example of the Federal Government commitment”, he reiterated.
Federal Minister in his opening remarks assured the delegation of maximum possible assistance by his Ministry in redressal of their genuine issues and demands. He also assured to have a high level meeting at Islamabad in coming days with all the stake holders on board to resolve their issues.
Earlier, the delegation apprised the chair of their issue with relates to import of raw material for controlled drugs and explained the possible impediments in this regard. The Governor Sindh in his concluding remarks stressed upon the pharmaceutical industry to come forward and assist government to ensure reforms in health sector and especially the access and availability of medicines to the people at affordable rates.
