Drinking water facility of district and taluka District headquarter hospitals to be completed soon: Qaim Ali Shah

Karachi, December 18, 2012 (PPI-OT): Chief Minister Sindh Syed Qaim Ali Shah today presided a high level meeting regarding rehabilitation of District headquarter hospitals and Taluka headquarter hospitals of Sindh province, held at CM House.

The meeting was attended by Minister Finance Syed Murad Ali Shah, ACS(P and D) Malik Israr, ACS (Finance) Mr. Arif Ahmed Khan, ACS (Special Initiatives) Ms Nargis Ghahoo, Special Secretary Health Mr. Dr. Suresh Kumar , Project Director THQ/DHQ Dr. Mumtaz Ali Brohi, Managing Director KW and SB Mr. Misbah Khan, Mr. Umar Jillani, Pak Oasis Group , Secretary Law Syed Ghulam Nabi Shah , Secretary to CM Muhammad Siddique Memon and others.

The meeting was informed that the work of installation of R.O’s in the province is in progress and during the period of 200 to 2012, more than 750 R.O’s are to be installed in the province. According to break-up one each R.O has been installed at Nawabshah and Khairpur, 29 each in Thatta , Badin, Thar and Umerkot district, 10 more in Thatta/Badin, 2 in Sewhan and Bubak, 40 in flood affected areas while 500 are being installed in various villages of the province.

The meeting was informed that so far 400 R.O’s have been installed while the first phase will be completed after installation of more than 100 R.O’s. It was also informed 13 RO’s has been installed in various areas of Karachi and 17-more RO’s are being installed. It was informed that over 12 million people are getting clean drinking water which the water of Manchar Lake will be treated which will be better for human beings.

Project Director for rehabilitation of THQ / DHQ Hospitals Dr. Mumtaz Ali Brohi presented a detailed briefing. Chief Minister Sindh in his views said that the provincial government intends to improve the health status of people of Sindh by providing the quality health care through expansion and strengthing of DHQ and THQ hospitals. He said that that required funds have been provided and work on some of the hospitals have been completed while the remaining work is expected to be completed soon.

Project Director informed that according to programme Ten District HQ Hospitals are being renovated and revamped and 7- THQ hospitals are to be upgraded to the level of District HQ hospitals. Besides 41-Taluka HQ hospitals are being up-graded, re-vamped with construction of Emergency cum-Trauma Centres, he said.

The meeting was informed that DHQ Hospital Tando Muhammad Khan is ready for inauguration, Badin hospital will be completed by January 2013, Dadu and Mirpurkhas hospitals by February 2013 while the remaining hospitals will be completed by June 2013 and June 2014.

Chief Minister Sindh directed to accelerate the pace of work so that these schemes are completed early for the benefit of poor and needy people. He said that with the completion of construction work, the provision of equipments, furniture, medicines and posting of doctors and staff will be completed early.
