Islamabad, March 14, 2013 (PPI-OT): Dr. Paul Bhatti, Minister in Charge for the Ministry of National Harmony will give away compensation cheque of Rs.500,000/- (rupees five lacs) to each affected family on behalf of federal government on Friday (tomorrow) in a ceremony at Governor House, Lahore.
It may be recalled that the Minister visited Joseph Colony, Lahore soon after the arson attack incident together with Archbishop of Karachi, Joseph Couts, Bishop Sebastian Shah, Maulana Tahir ul Ashrafi, Maulana Khabir Azad along with scores of other religious leaders and scholars.
The visiting delegation led by Dr Paul Bhatti met with affectees of the tragic incident and expressed full support for early and complete rehabilitation of the affected community. The delegation also assured the affected families that real culprits behind the heinous act will be brought to book and they will be given exemplary punishment.
Afterwards a meeting was held taking on board all the recognized Christian and Muslim leadership to discuss the situation arising out of the incident and outcome of the meeting was as follows:
The participants of the meeting unanimously condemned the tragic incident and termed it as an act of violence against humanity and against the teachings of Islam.
A committee was also established to monitor the immediate rehabilitation of the affectees.
Prime Minister Raja Pervez Ashraf and President Asif Ali Zardari nominated Dr Paul Bhatti to oversee the relief work for the affected community. Dr Paul, as mentioned earlier, will also distribute compensation cheques among affected families on Friday.
