Islamabad, March 14, 2013 (PPI-OT): Dr. Paul Bhatti, Advisor to Prime Minister for National Harmony, today called on President Asif Ali Zardari at the Presidency.
The Advisor briefed the President about the unfortunate incident of criminal assault on the Christian colony in Lahore and apprised him about the various steps being taken for the rehabilitation of the Christian brethren.
The President said that the need for religious harmony and tolerance was never as great as it is today and asked the Advisor to keep up efforts for promoting harmony and tolerance. He assured that all those involved in the act of vandalism will be brought to justice and the safety and security of the minorities will be ensured.
Spokesperson to the President Senator Farhatullah Babar said that the President while lauding the role being played by the minorities in the socio- economic development of Pakistan said that the government will not allow anyone to misuse the blasphemy law.
The President urged for early relief and rehabilitation of the affected people and asked the advisor to keep him informed, on regular basis, about relief work and the progress into the investigations of the incident.
