Karachi, March 27, 2015 (PPI-OT): The National Book Foundation (NBF) working under the Cabinet Division, Government of Pakistan, has awarded Dr. Muhammad Ali Shaikh’s book “Quaid-e-Azam Mohammad Ali Jinnah: Education, Struggle and Achievements” the Best Book Award in the category of the “Books on Quaid-e-Azam, Allama Mohammad Iqbal and Pakistan Movement”. The award carries cash prize of Rs. 70,000/-.
The distinction of the book is that it has thoroughly investigated the academic life of Quaid-e-Azam Mohammad Ali Jinnah with the help of his educational records available at Sindh Madressatul Islam, where Quaid-e-Azam spent longest period of his academic life, from 1887 to 1892 as well as his other Alma-Maters, i.e. Church Mission School (CMS) Karachi and Lincoln’s Inn of London. The book covers his entire life including his parentage marriage and professional and political career and his Last Will.
Dr. Muhammad Ali Shaikh has authored many other books including the authorized biography of Shaheed Benazir Bhutto under the title “Benazir Bhutto: A Political Biography,” which was published in year 2000 and his book on television and social change under title “Satellite Television and Social Change in Pakistan: A Case Study of Rural Sindh,” published in 2007. Dr. Shaikh is presently serving as Vice Chancellor of Sindh Madressatul Islam University.
It may be pointed out that the NBF had invited entries from the authors and the publishers for competition under the category of books on Quaid-e-Azam, Allama Mohammad Iqbal and Pakistan Movement vide an advertisement in September 2014. The entries received were evaluated by the experts and decision was made on the recommendation of the experts.
