Karachi, December 28, 2012 (PPI-OT): Dr Ishrat Ul Ebad Khan has completed 10 years as the Governor of Sindh on December 27. In the year 2002, he was appointed as the 31st governor of the province. President Asif Ali Zardari on Tuesday had conferred ‘Nishan-i-Imtiaz’ on Sindh Governor Dr Ishrat Ul Ebad Khan, in recognition of his meritorious services in the field of public service at a special ceremony held at the Governor House here. He has the distinction of being the youngest and longest serving governor of Sindh.
People from every walk of life appreciate and acknowledge the administrative abilities, acumen, sagacity, tolerance, humbleness as well as the commitment and hard work of Dr. Ishrat.In recognition of his services in the realms of public service, President Asif Ali Zaradri conferred on him the ‘Nishan-i-Imtiaz’.
As the Governor of Sindh, Dr. Ebad fostered unity and cohesiveness among various communities and people in the province. He also worked for fostering the inter-faith harmony and faced the challenges confronting the society.
Ebad also undertook efforts for the development of the city of Karachi as well as other areas in the province and initiated quite a number of development projects for the infrastructure development. He also served the people of the province without any distinction, convened high-level meetings for the resolution of the problems of people.
Dr Ebad established Legends Trust, Bagh-i-Ibne Qasim, besides promotion of education, health facilities and numerous public service projects. The credit for all his achievements goes to the Chief of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM), Altaf Hussain, who constantly guided and encourage him in his public service endeavours.
Meanwhile, Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) Rabita Committee has complimented Governor Sindh on being conferred the Nishan-i-Imtiaz by the President of Pakistan. In a joint statement issued by the MQM on Thursday, it termed it an honour and great achievement for the entire nation.
The MQM Rabita Committee said that award is an acknowledgement of the services rendered by Dr Ebad. It said that Dr Ebad achieved this success by following the teachings and principles of Altaf Hussain. It congratulates Altaf Hussain that one of his trained worker rose to get the highest civil award of the country.
The Rabita Committee said that following the teachings of Altaf Hussain, Dr Ebad used his office for serving the people instead of accumulating personal gains. Ebad served the people of Sindh without any discrimination and worked tirelessly for the progress of the province.
The award is, in fact, a recognition of his services for which the workers and sympathisers of the MQM congratulate him. The committee also felicitated Dr Ebad on becoming the longest serving governor of Sindh.
