Srinagar, January 22, 2017 (PPI-OT): In occupied Kashmir, parents have said that some government as well as private schools in Srinagar have been forcing their children to participate in India’s January 26 Republic Day parade in Kashmir. The parents told media that they were concerned about their children as society is against participation of Indian Republic Day parade in Kashmir.
“Who will ensure their security after the Parade? We are the part of the society and we have to live here. Besides, our conscience doesn’t allow us to permit our kids to participate in the Parade as Valley witnessed bloodshed in recent past,” they added.
They said that last year as well the Principal of a Girls Higher Secondary School had warned students that they would be shown failed in their practical subjects if they refuse to participate in August 15 celebrations at Bakshi Stadium. “We have decided to hit to the streets and expose these elements in public in case they continue to force our children particularly girl students to participate in India’s Republic and Independence Day celebrations,” the parents said.
