Directorate of Health Services operation against un-hygenic food sellers

Islamabad, May 12, 2014 (PPI-OT): Member Administration CDA Mr. Amir Ali Ahmed has directed Directorate of Health Services to constitute special teams for operation against sub-standards fruit and drink sellers in the city to make certain the supply of hygienic food stuff for masses during summer season. As per principals of public health and relevant rules action should be taken against sellers of sub-standards, un-hygienic and expired food stuff.

On directions of Member Administration CDA Mr. Amir Ali Ahmed special teams are being constituted to take action against sale of un-hygienic food stuff. The teams will start their operation immediately and weekly progress report will be submitted to the Member Administration.

In the meanwhile during previous week 74 notices and 33 challans were issued to the violators. 3 Samosa Pakora and 5 soda water stalls were partially sealed. Furthermore 40 crates of sub-standard soda water, 100 packets of non-branded snacks, 30 packets of expired food stuff and 25 un-hygienic utensils were confiscated and then destroyed.

The said action was taken by two specially formed Directorate of Health Services teams each headed by a Food Inspector working under supervision of Health Officer. Performance of the teams is being examined on daily basis.
