Karachi, May 27, 2014 (PPI-OT): The Director-General of Pakistan Rangers, Sindh, Major General Rizwan Akhtar on Tuesday visited SITE Association of Industry to review security arrangements in SITE industrial area. During the emergent meeting with office-bearers of SITE Association, Rangers DG Major General Rizwan Akhtar updated the office bearers of the SITE Association about the steps taken by the Rangers to control the law and order situation. He also issued orders to the relevant Rangers authorities present in the meeting to take additional steps to beef up security around the SITE area.
On this occasion, SITE Association Patron-in-Chief Siraj Kassam Teli, Chairman Younus M. Bashir, former Chairman M. Zubair Motiwala, Ahsan Arshad Ayub, Senior Vice Chairman, Yousuf Yaqoob, Vice Chairman of SITE Association along with M. Jawed Bilwani, Iqbal Lakhani, Tariq Yousuf and other prominent industrialists welcomed the DG Rangers at office of the SITE Association of Industry.
In his welcome address, Younus M. Bashir, Chairman, SITE Association admired the security measures taken by the DG Rangers for maintaining law and order in SITE area. He briefed the DG Rangers about the salient features of the security plan for SITE and also removal of encroachments from the whole SITE area. In this regard, he also appreciated the role played by Mir Ghuylam Qadir Talpur, Deputy Commissioner West Karachi and Abdul Jabbar Shahani, Assistant Commissioner, SITE.
He told that construction work of roads, picquets and barriers etc. in the SITE area is in progress. He also briefed about the deployment of private security guards, Rangers and police at SITE to ensure security there. He said that private guards have been deployed for security duty in addition to deployment of the law-enforcement agencies. He further said that CCTV cameras have been installed through which round-the-clock monitoring would be ensured to SITE industrialists.
Chairman, SITE Association, however, also conveyed the concerns of SITE business community to the DG Rangers regarding the incidents relating to demand of ransom, bhatta collection and non-provision of latest security apparatus by the Government.
On the occasion, Siraj Kassam Teli, Patron-in-Chief, SITE Association has also applauded the efforts of Sindh Rangers in maintaining the law and order situation in SITE area.
The Rangers DG in response was very supportive and later diligently answered the queries of businessmen present in the meeting. He particularly commended removal of encroachments from the SITE area. He requested for quick information on any major incident involving SITE industrialists. He assured that he and his team are available to support SITE Association round-the-clock.
On this occasion, Maj. Gen. Rizwan Akhtar, DG Rangers also met the officials of Rangers deputed at SITE Command and Control Centre set up at the office of SITE Association and praised them as well as the Rangers posted at different check posts in SITE area for performing their professional duties efficiently and diligently.
SITE Association Chairman, Younus M. Bashir expressed his gratitude to the Rangers DG, Maj. Gen. Rizwan Akhtar for taking time out to hear their security concerns and taking keen interest in solving the problems faced by the business community of SITE area.
