In Quetta, Deputy Inspector General Police Hamid Shakeel, ASI Muhammad Ramzan and DIG’s driver were martyred in a bomb attack on their vehicle at Airport Road on Thursday.
SP Security Quetta Police, Javaid Iqbal told our correspondent Aftab Sherazi that the DIG was on his way from his home to office when the bomb blast occurred.
Five police personnel who were also injured in the attack were shifted to CMH for treatment.
President Mamnoon Hussain and Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi have strongly condemned the terrorist attack in Quetta.
In their separate statements, they said such dastardly acts are reflective of the defeated mentality.
The President expressed deep grief and sorrow over the loss of precious lives in this tragic incident and expressed heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families.
He directed the authorities concerned to provide all possible medical facilities to the injured.
The President paid tribute to the sacrifices of the police and law enforcement agencies in the fight against terrorism.
He underscored that the whole nation is united in the war against terrorism and it will continue till elimination of the last terrorist from our soil.
The Prime Minister said such acts cannot shake our resolve in the fight against terrorism.
He appreciated contribution and sacrifices of police force in elimination of terrorism and restoration of law and order.
Meanwhile, Chief Minister Balochistan Nawab Sanaullah Khan Zehri, Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif and Interior Minister have also strongly condemned the bomb attack on Police vehicle.
They expressed deep sorrow and grief over martyrdom of DIG and his driver in the incident.
Governor Muhammad Khan Achakzai visited CMH Quetta and inquired after the health condition of Police Personnel and civilian wounded in the suicide bomb attack.
He also instructed the concerned medical officials to provide all possible medical facilities to the people wounded in the incident.
The Senate offered Fateha for the departed souls of police officials martyred in blast in Quetta.
Minister for Federal Education and Professional Training Baligur Rehman led the Fateha.
