Srinagar, March 04, 2016 (PPI-OT):In occupied Kashmir, the Jammu and Kashmir Democratic Freedom Party (DFP) has strongly condemned the continued illegal detention of its Chairman, Shabbir Ahmed Shah, and arrest of innocent youth across the territory. The DFP spokesman in a statement issued in Srinagar said that such tactics could not break the Kashmiris’ resolve to continue their ongoing freedom movement.
He said the youth of the Valley, under a well planned strategy, were being pushed to the wall and entire occupied territory had been converted into a virtual jail. Giving details of detention of the party Chairman, the spokesman said, “This year, Shabbir Shah has been kept under imprisonment for 56 days and barred from offering 10 Friday prayers. He was arrested on 25th February during a nocturnal raid and continues to be lodged in Srinagar’s Rajbagh Police Station.”
The spokesman said that the main motive behind imprisonment of the pro-freedom leaders was to keep them away from the people. He also condemned the threatening of DFP workers by Indian police and crackdown on party activists. He said party activist, Abdul Waheed, has been lodged at Kot Bhalwal jail in Jammu and several others has been detained in police stations.
He also castigated the authorities for placing the Jammu and Kashmir National Front Chairman, Nayeem Ahmad Khan, under continued house arrest and detaining the ailing Tehreek-e-Hurriyet leader, Raja Merajuddin, in Nowgam Police Station. He termed it as political vengeance on part of occupation authorities.
