Karachi: A good number of development works in district south were currently underway which includes the construction of many roads in Clifton including a road adjoining the mausoleum of Abdullah Shah Ghazi, Shara-e-Atar and Marine Drive while buildings of five dispensaries and as many schools were also having repairing and renovation works.
This was stated by KMC Administrator Muhammad Hussain Syed during a meeting to review the development works being carried out by KMC in district south.
Director General Technical Services Altaf G. Memon, Senior Director Transport Ateeq Baig, Senior Director Health Services Dr. Shoukat Zaman, Senior Director Medical Services Dr. Nasir Javed and concerned engineers were present on this occasion. Administrator Muhammad Hussain Syed said the 3 kilometer long Shara-e-Iran was now at the carpeting stage which would cost around Rs18million and the construction work will be completed by the end of current month. A kilometer long drain costing around Rs50 Lac was under construction along the Shara-e-Atar which would be used for sewage and rain water drainage.
The rehabilitation and repairing of 2.5kilometer long Marine Drive in Clifton would be carried out soon and would completed next month. Development works of the 1.5 kilometer long road adjoining mausoleum of Abdullah Shah Ghazi was going on presently along with the road carpeting and installation of storm water drain alongside road. This project will also be completed soon with a cost of Rs16million.
The repairing and rehabilitation of various roads of Clifton Block 5 was also currently going on speedily. KMC was performing these works with a cost of Rs25million Buildings of dispensaries and maternity homes in Sher Shah, Miran Shah, Bihar Colony and Lyari Maternity Home and school buildings No.1, 17, 20 and 40 were also being repaired and renovated with a cost of Rs20million.
He said a model school will also be constructed in Lyari and the problem of shortage of doctors and paramedics in Lyari Maternity Homes will also be solved so that the people of this area could avail better medical facilities.
He said in order to ensure prompt shifting of patients to a nearby hospital, the purchased order of an ambulance for Lyari Maternity Homes was also issued.
Administrator Karachi said KMC was playing its full role in the development and progress of the city and it was making sure the availability of municipal facilities to citizens. The Director General Technical Services on this occasion gave a detailed briefing on the development works presently going on in district South by KMC.
