Karachi, September 07, 2016 (PPI-OT): Advisor to Chief Minister Sindh for Labour and Human Resources (HR) Senator Saeed Ghani has directed the authorities of Sindh Workers Welfare Board (SWWB) to expedite the efforts for timely completion of development and welfare schemes warning that any unlawful act, corruption or nepotism would not be tolerated and all the works must be carried out according to prescribed rules and regulations.
He said that Industrial development was amongst top most priorities of Sindh government where workers play their pivotal role by putting their hard labour that is why Labour department has decided to enhance its scope of social security net to maximum number of industrial workers. This he said while paying a visit of SWWB central office early on the Wednesday morning and talking to a delegation of Executive Club of Trade and Industry Nooriabad at SESSI Head office. The delegation comprised on Mr. Kanwar Zia-ur-Rehman, Mr. Muhammad Anwar Tabbani and Saleem Durrani, Vice Commissioner SESSI Mr. Asif Ali Memon was also present in the meeting.
During the surprise visit of the SWWB Central office, Secretary of Board Mr. Shah Muhammad Shah, Director Admin Mr. Salman Ahmad, Director Finance Mr. Anwar Ausaf and other officers were present in their respective offices while about 15 staff members were absent from their duties. Expressing his displeasure over the absence of employees, Mr. Saeed Ghani strictly directed the Secretary and Director Admin of SWWB to ensure the punctuality of the staff as it was their prime responsibility, concerned officers would be taken to task if any employee remains absent from the office, he warned.
Sindh Advisor for Labour asked the SWWB officers for taking drastic measures to complete the uplift and welfare schemes at Karachi, Larkana, Hyderabad, Kotri and Noori Abad in stipulated time frame. He also directed the officials to digitalize the data and record of workers on modern lines and take steps to bring more workers under social security net so that they could benefit from the services and facilities.
Meanwhile, talking to a delegation of Nooriabad industrialists Mr. Saeed Ghani said that after Karachi, Nooriabad was biggest Industrial zone and Sindh Government was taking comprehensive steps for the advancement and promotion of industries in Nooriabad Industrial zone, where major industries like textiles, cement, steel, mechanical and manufacturing parts are located and thousands of workers are were engaged in earning their livelihood, he added that department of labour wants to enhance the number of industrial workers under social security net so that they and their families could benefit from the services like education, health, marriage and death grants and other welfare schemes.
Advisor for labour further stated that government of Sindh has vowed to provide facilities and incentives to the industrialists, adding that besides provision of electricity, gas, water, roads and other infrastructure was also being developed to provide maximum facilities to them. He said that labour department was taking initiatives to improve the conditions of hospitals, schools and issue of shortage of the staff was also being addressed on urgent basis. Leader of the delegation Mr Zia ur Rehman told that seven thousand and five hundred workers were registered in the Nooriabad industrial zone while there are hundreds of other workers which needs to be registered under social security net. Delegation also invited the Advisor for Labour to participate in the annual function of a Welfare School run by the industrialists which he accepted.
