The Tehreek-e-Hurriyet district Baramulla President, Ameer Hamza addressing party activists at Rihama in the district said that the authorities would not succeed to suppress the Kashmiris’ freedom sentiments through despotic tactics. He condemned the shifting of Tehreek-e-Hurriyet leader, Bashir Ahmad Qureshi to the Central Jail in Srinagar.
The Jamaat-e-Islami in a statement termed detention and house arrests of Syed Ali Gilani and other leaders and preventing them from offering Juma prayers as intervention in their religious matters. The statement demanded immediate release of Shabbir Ahmad Shah, Muhammad Ashraf Sehrai, Dr Muhammad Qasim Fakhtoo, Masarrat Aalam Butt, Ghulam Nabi Zaki, Fehmida Sofi and other detained leaders.
Meanwhile, APHC leader Zafar Akbar Butt appealed the international human rights organizations to exert pressure on India for immediate release of the detained leaders including APHC Chairman, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Syed Ali Gilani.
