Detainees being denied medical care in IOK jail

Srinagar, March 29, 2019 (PPI-OT):In occupied Kashmir, the family members of the illegally detained Kashmiris lodged at Islamabad district jail have said that the inmates are being denied medical care and proper food at the prison. The families and relatives of the illegally detained Hurriyat leaders and activists told media that the jail, with a capacity for 65 inmates, is presently housing around 200 detainees, amid an utter neglect of health and hygiene.

“The detainees are not allowed to visit the hospital and when we take medicines for them, they are not allowed inside,” one of families said, adding “Falling ill inside this jail can prove life threatening for our loved ones.” The family members said that the inmates were kept in pathetic unhygienic conditions with a plain disregard to proper living conditions for humans. “There has been inordinate delay in their trials, they are being ill-treated by jail authorities and no one is listening to us,” they deplored.
