Srinagar, March 26, 2013 (PPI-OT): In occupied Kashmir, forceful protest demonstrations were held in Srinagar, Islamabad and Pulwama against the stepped-up Indian state terrorism including the killing of a 24-year-old youth in police custody, today.
People took to the streets in Islamabad against the killing of Hilal Ahmad Dar in police custody at Manghall in the town.
The Chairman of All Parties Hurriyet Conference, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq in a statement condemned the killing of the youth in custody.
The police had arrested Hilal Ahmad Dar along with three other youth including Mashooq Ahmad Magray, Tariq Ahmad Sofi and Imran Ahmad from the area torturing Hilal Ahmad Dar to death during custody.
Another youth, identified as Mohammad Maqsood, was martyred at Naoshera in Rajouri. The Indian army spokesman confirmed that the martyred youth was unarmed.
Protest demonstrations were held in Pulwama against the illegal detention of the district President of Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front, Javed Ahmad. He was arrested by the authorities under draconian Public Safety Act. The JKLF Chairman, Muhammad Yasin Malik in a statement denounced the crackdown against the party activists and Hurriyet leaders.
Protest strike was observed for the fourth consecutive day, today, in Saraf Kadal and Kawdara areas of Srinagar against the presence of Indian Army camps in the areas. Anti-India protest demonstrations were also reported from Rajouri Kadal and Bohri Kadal areas of downtown Srinagar.
The authorities did not allow the APHC leader, Zafar Akbar Butt to meet the senior APHC leader, Shabbir Ahmad Shah at Kotbhalwal jail in Jammu.
The Indian authorities on the behest of Hindu communal forces of Leh dismantled dozens of shops in the city belonging to the Kashmiris without informing the owners.
At least, three members of Bomb Disposal Squad were wounded when a detonator exploded inside the Indian Parimpora Police station in Srinagar.
