Delegation of Peshawar High Court Bar Association Calls on Honourable Chief Justice of Pakistan

Islamabad: A 09 Member delegation of Peshawar High Court Bar Association headed by President, Khawaja Muhammad Khan Gara and Mr. Amin-ur-Rehman, Secretary General and comprising other executive members called on the Honourable Chief Justice of Pakistan Mr. Justice. Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhary today i.e. 18.01.2012 in Supreme Court Building, Islamabad.

The delegation had come to extend the support for the efforts of the Honourable Chief Justice of Pakistan, they informed his lordship about the recent unanimously passed resolution by the Bar to the effect that they would standby the judiciary and support the rulings and decisions of the Supreme Court.

The Court is strengthening the rule of law and adherence to the Constitution in the country. They further informed his lordship that a judicial academy recently has been established by the provincial government of KPK to train judicial officers, court staff and the young lawyers in the field of law and judicial administration.

Moreover, they also informed his lordship that they have been provided funds by the government but the bar wants to distribute the funds amongst the District Bar Associations for the purpose of the upliftment of the libraries at district levels.

The Chief Justice of Pakistan laid stress on judicial independence and impartiality and stated that this could be achieved only through setting personal example of honesty, independence and impartiality, by deciding cases on sole consideration of law and facts of the case.

He added that the Bar is an integral part of the judicial Administration and the lawyers have contributed a great deal to the maintenance of rule of law and supremacy of the Constitution in the country. His lordship also commended the role played by Peshawar High Court Bar for the Constitutionalism, rule of law and supremacy of constitution which is historical and beyond compare in the judicial history and the struggle heralded the dawn of democracy in the country.

His lordship further said that the legal fraternity has always stood against the dictatorship in the country and supported the democratic process which is a good omen on part of the legal fraternity.

The delegation invited Honourable Chief Justice of Pakistan to visit Peshawar High Court Bar, his lordship conveyed his gratitude, extended his thanks and assured to visit them in suitable time.
