Islamabad, November 23, 2012 (PPI-OT): A 10 Member delegation of Peshawar High Court Bar Association headed by its President Mr. Abdul Latif Afridi and comprising on Mr. Khalid Anwar Afridi, Member Executive Committee Supreme Court Bar and other office bearers and members called on the Hon’ble Chief Justice of Pakistan Mr. Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry today i.e.23.11.2012 in the Supreme Court of Pakistan, Islamabad.
Talking to the delegation his lordship said “There is close nexus between Bench and Bar, therefore both should work hard for the cause of the Administration of justice”. His lordship lauded the role played by the Peshawar High Court Bar during the lawyers’ movement and said that legal fraternity has brought a change in the society by creating awareness amongst masses and as a result the masses are more assertive in the protection of their legal rights and prevalence of rule of law in the country.
The delegation praised the efforts of the Hon’ble Chief Justice for the cause of independence of judiciary, Rule of Law and Constitutionalism. They informed about their problems like effective functioning of judicial system in the province of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
They further informed his lordship that five circuit benches are working in the province of K.P.K and there is shortage of Judges at Peshawar High Court which may be increased. They further told that the trust of public at large in judiciary has enhanced due to which the ratio of litigation has also increased.
The Hon’ble Chief Justice also appreciated efforts of legal fraternity for the cause of dispensation of justice. The delegation praised his lordship’s steadfastness, devotion, commitment, determination and efforts for the cause of justice and assured his lordship of their full support and cooperation.
