Islamabad: A 09 Member delegation of Mian Channu Tehsil Bar headed by Chaudhry Nadeem Akhter, President and comprising other office bearers and members of the Bar called on the Honourable Chief Justice of Pakistan Mr. Justice. Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhary today i.e. 04.01.2012 in Supreme Court Building, Islamabad.
Talking to the delegation, his lordship said that bench and bar are the integral part of same system; they should work hard to provide justice to litigants at their doorsteps. Extolling the services rendered by Mian Channu Bar for their profession and for Rule of law in society, his lordship added that the Bar is an active and committed bar which played a vital role for the achievement of the cause of independence of judiciary, supremacy of Constitution and Rule of law in our country. Their services and sacrifices will always be remembered and will be guiding the new generations to stand by the judiciary in time of need.
The members discussed with the Chief Justice, issues and matters of interest of the legal/judicial fraternity and said that his lordship is a ray of hope for whole nation due to his professional commitments, legal acumen and dedications for cause of supremacy of Constitution, rule of law and independence of judiciary. Further, they discussed the problems faced by them in their professional field and requested for construction of chambers and lawyers colony in Mian Channu, they further discussed that lawyers and litigants face difficulties due to non availability of judicial lock-ups at Mian Channu, the prisoners are sent to other jails of far flung areas which causes wastage of time, money and delay in disposal of cases. The Honourable Chief Justice assured them to take up the matter on the forum of National Judicial Policy Making Committee (NJPMC).
The delegation apprised his lordship regarding the cases disposed on technical grounds which results to filing appeals thereby causing delay and increase in rate of pendency. Taking on the point of the appointment of local commissioners to record the evidence, the delegation praised his lordship’s role to provide a platform to young lawyers to get firsthand knowledge of the legal affairs, improvement in their professional calibre which encourage the youngsters to join the field of law.
They expressed the hope that the administration of justice needs his lordship’s leadership and motivation to deliver justice to the public at large. They said that the public have reposed great confidence in the judiciary. They invited the Honourable Chief Justice to visit Teshil Bar Mian Channu, his lordship conveyed his gratitude, extended thanks and assured to visit them in suitable time.
