Lasbela, August 07, 2013 (PPI-OT): “The enormous increase of 74% in the electricity tariff for commercial and industrial sector will directly affect the poor people of the country because of negative impact on the prices of consumer items” This was stated by the Members, Lasbela Chamber of Commerce and Industry in a Press Release issued today.
The Chamber’s members further said that the increase in the Power Tariff together with the recent increase in the petroleum prices would directly hit the prices which will increase enormously, resulting in further miseries for the poor people as industrial and commercial sector would not bear the cost by them and it would be transferred to the consumers.
The Chamber apprehended that if the government will impose similar Tariff hike on the domestic consumers in October, it will further burden the poor masses that would make them very difficult and painful to maintain their livelihood.
The Lasbela Chamber urged the government to withdraw the increase in power tariff and maintain the previous level, in order to save the commercial and industrial sector from disaster and to save the general public from high inflation.
