Curfew remain in force in IOK on 30th day today

Srinagar, August 07, 2016 (PPI-OT): In occupied Kashmir, curfew and other restrictions remained in force across the Kashmir Valley and parts of Jammu division, today, on the 30th consecutive day, today, against the civilian killings in the territory.

Curfew remained in force in Nowhatta, Khanyar, Rainawari, Safakadal, Maharajgunj and Batamaloo areas of Srinagar, today. Besides, Badgam, Kupwara, Islamabad and other parts of the territory also witnessed strict curfew and restrictions.

A police official said restrictions will remain in force in other areas of the Valley as well. He added that restrictions on the assembly of four or more people continue to remain in effect across the Valley. Mobile and internet services continued to remain snapped. The Hurriyet camp has extended the shutdown call in Kashmir till August 12 and has asked the people to organize sanitation drive in their localities and hospitals.

However, people defying curfew and restrictions held peaceful protest rally in Batengoo area of Sopore in Baramulla district, today. The protesters shouted pro-freedom and anti-India slogans as they marched through streets in the area.
