Peshawar: The Cultural Journalists Forum has welcomed the establishment of fund on permanent basis for the welfare of the artists by the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government and termed it an artist’s friendly step. It has also lauded the holding of charity show for Tariq Shah and announced full participation and cooperation in this regard.
In a joint statement the Culture Journalists Forum President Ihtisham Toru, General Secretary Rokhan Yousafzai, Bakhtiar Khattak, Arshad Hussain, Amjad Hadi, Sajjad Khalil, Huma yun Khan, Sher Alam Shinwari and Amjad Khadim said that due to the attention of the provincial government the artist community has taken a sigh of relief as earlier for many years due to the depressed atmosphere their lives became miserable but the sitting government while fulfilling all their commitments has given due status to the actors and singers.
They said that Tariq Shah was an asset of the Pashto film industry and the holding of show to help him out was a commendable job. But there are certain other actors alike who needed to be given such attention. Similarly, the welfare organizations and the well to do people should come forwards and play their due role for seconding the steps initiated for the welfare of the art and culture.
They reiterated that the culture journalist’s forum would be available at all fora for the promotion of culture and welfare of the artists. They hoped that the provincial Minister for Information and Culture Mian Iftikhar Hussain would ensure further bold steps for mitigating the problems of this province and its artist’s community.
