Islamabad, April 24, 2013 (PPI-OT): PCSIR is an autonomous body with mandate to build a strong scientific and technological base for the economic progress of the country and to undertake, promote and guide scientific and technological research related to problems connected with the establishment and development of Pakistani industries, and disseminate the results of research to various sectors of the economic development community in the best possible manner.
PCSIR has four multi-functional laboratories and other mono functional labs all over the country. PCSIR lab, Karachi, National Physical and Standard Laboratory, Islamabad and Leather Research Centre, Karachi have become the first accredited laboratories of Pakistan for ISO-17025.
The broad-based activities of the PCSIR encompass almost the entire industrial sector in the country. The Pakistan Council of Scientific and Industrial Research has signed a Programme of Cooperation between PCSIR and Iranian Research Organization for Science and Technology (IROST) under S and T protocol to promote cooperation in field of Science and Technology and to share the technologies, innovations and inventions among the industrial sectors to outreach the benefits of technologies to the both countries. On the initiative of IROST, the Iranian Herbal Manufacturing Companies had shown their willingness to visit Pakistan for joint venture, technology transfer and investment opportunities in the field of herbal products. In this connection a 25 member delegation of Iran is visiting Pakistan with the following objectives:
i) To seek the opportunities for trading herbal medicines/ products between both the countries
ii) Technology transfer for the production of herbal products
iii) Joint ventures between Iranian and Pakistani companies for the manufacturing/ export/ import of he herbal medicines/ products. To initiate joint projects including joint production and investment with companies in Pakistan In this connection, One Day Consultative Workshop between Pakistani and Iranian Herbal Products Manufacturers is scheduled on April 24, 2013 at Margala Hotel, Islamabad. Dr. Sania Nishtar, Minister for Science and Technology will grace the occasion as the Chief Guest.
After workshop the Iranian delegation will visit the Qarshi Industries at Hattar Industrial Area on April 25, 2013 and the M/s Marhaba and other herbal Industries in Lahore on April 27, 2013
