Consul general of Iran Mr. Mehdi sobhani Calls on caretaker chief minister Sindh justice (R) Zahid kurban alavi

Karachi, April 17, 2013 (PPI-OT): Consul General of Islamic Republic of Iran Mehdi Subhani Called on Caretaker Chief Minister Sindh Justice ( R ) Zahid Kurban Alavi at Chief Minister House on Wednesday. They exchanged the views about forthcoming general elections and other matters of mutual interests. Caretaker Chief Minister Sindh said that both the brotherly countries have always enjoyed cordial relations.

He expressed his deep grief over the deaths of precious lives of Iranian peoples in yesterday’s severe earthquake and added that we are with the peoples of Iran in this difficult and testing time. He offered the assistance and cooperation to the Iranian Consul General from Sindh Government for the affected peoples of Iran.

Caretaker Chief Minister Sindh stressed the need to further strengthen bilateral relations especially trade, business and Agriculture fields. He said that Pakistan is Agricultural Country and through developing the Agro – based industry better results could be achieved.

He added that Agriculture sectors needs to be developed on modern scientific basis for maximum production of the crops. Iranian Consul General said that there is great demand for Wheat, Fruits, rice, meat and textile products in Iran and Pakistan can earn huge profit by exporting these products.

Mr. Subhani Informed that work on Iran Pakistan Gas pipeline Project is in progress, so far out of 1200 Km 900 Km have been completed, he hoped that peoples of Pakistan would get benefit from this project in 2014. Iranian Consul General further informed that his government has started Karachi-Tehran and Karachi – Mashad direct flights through which peoples of both countries are being provided better traveling facilities. He also informed the Caretaker Chief Minister Sindh that his government has issued 50 thousand visas to Pakistani peoples in last few months.

Speaking about the upcoming elections Iranian Consul General said that Iran will support free, fair and transparent elections in Pakistan. Chief Minister Sindh said that Interim Government’s prime responsibility is to hold transparent and credible elections for which election commission of Pakistan is being provided every possible support and assistance. Caretaker Chief Minister Sindh presented the cultural gifts of Sindhi Ajrak and Topi to Iranian Consul General.
