Islamabad, November 25, 2013 (PPI-OT): The Chairman of International Chamber for Peace and Conciliation (ICPC), UK, Professor Nazir Ahmad Shawl, has said that the construction of a wall on the Line of Control (LoC) by India is a violation of the UN resolutions and International Law because the disputed status of Jammu and Kashmir had been accepted by the United Nations. Professor Nazir Ahmad Shawl in a statement issued here said, a team of UN Observers Group is posted on both sides of the Line of Control.
“It is also a reflection of an intent of New Delhi to bulldoze the peoples’ aspirations to choose the political future of their choice. The International community needs to take a notice of this attitude and design. People around the world have already welcomed the demolition of the Berlin wall and a New Berlin wall in Jammu and Kashmir is unacceptable,” he said.
Professor Shawl hoped that all those countries which had welcomed the demolition of Berlin wall would give voice to the feelings of the people of Jammu and Kashmir and use their good offices to prevent India from going ahead with this project.
“Kashmir is neither a territorial or boarder dispute as it concerns the basic aspirations of the people of Jammu and Kashmir. In order to ensure regional peace, stability and secure environment the ground realities need to be understood and addressed with serious concern and political will,” he added.
