Srinagar, July 20, 2014 (PPI-OT): In occupied Kashmir, complete shutdown was observed in twin districts of Islamabad and Kulgam, today, against the killing of a teenage youth, Suhail Ahmad, by Indian troops in Khudwani area of Kulgam district, yesterday.
Call for the strike was given by the veteran Hurriyet leader, Syed Ali Gilani. The authorities had imposed curfew and other restrictions in the two districts to prevent anti-India protest demonstrations. However, youth defying restrictions came out of their houses and held protest a demonstration in Qaimoh area of Kulgam against the killing of the youth.
The troops resorted to brute use of force on the protesters, injuring three youth critically. The veteran Hurriyet leader, Syed Ali Gilani terming the cold-blooded murder of the teenager as highly deplorable said that the Indian forces in pursuit of Hindutva agenda were engaged in killing youth in Kashmir like Israel was doing in Gaza.
Hurriyet leaders, Shabbir Ahmad Shah, Muhammad Farooq Rehmani, Barrister Abdul Majeed Tramboo, Mohammad Yousuf Naqash and Zamrooda Habib in their statements condemned the killing and said that the supreme sacrifices of the people of Kashmir would not be allowed go waste.
The Jammu and Kashmir Muslim League in a statement criticized the authorities for not presenting the illegally detained party Chairman, Masarrat Aalam Butt before the court of Additional Sessions Judge Srinagar in a fake case, registered against him in 2010. Masarrat Aalam Butt is presently lodged in district jail Baramulla.
The Chairman of Kashmir Council European Union, Ali Raza Syed in a statement issued in Brussels denouncing the Israeli aggression on Gaza deplored that the issues of Kashmir and Palestinian could not be resolved despite being present on UN agenda for past many decades.
